KAMPALA REGISTERS ANOTHER 1,000 COVID CASES AS RCC HUDU HUSSEIN THREATENS TOTAL LOCKDOWN

Kampala district has registered another 1,000 new Covid -19 cases a day after government started implementing a 42-days partial lockdown as announced by President Yoweri Museveni.

Official figures released by the Ministry of Health revealed an alarming increase in infection rates with in Kampala that recorded 998 new cases , Wakiso 135, Luwero 105, Mbarara 37, Arua 24 Tororo 26 brining the total number of new Covid -19 cases to 1,566. At least 408 Ugandans have died after contracting the deadly virus and 784 active cases are on admission at various health facilities.

Health officials reported a shortage of ICU beds in all hospitals in Kampala as Covid-19 patients were referred to home care treatment . Kampala Resident City Commisioner who is also the Covid-19 Kampala Task Force Chairman , Hudu Hussein expressed regret that many traders in -down town were not following the new set Covid -19 SOPs to stem the spread of the disease .

Hudu Hussein has since called upon President Yoweri museveni and the national Covid-19 Task Force to impose a total lockdown in Kampala saying the one week notice given to the business community to follow the SOPs has not yielded positive results .
