UPDF ,Special Forces STRIKE ADF Terrorists Who Killed Tourists In Kasese
11 ADF terrorists killed, One captured with injuries in the Night targeted -intelligence led operation
A combined force of Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) special forces that included SFC and Marine forces have carried out a targeted night operation and killed 11 ADF rebels that attacked tourists in Kasese district .
Deo Akiiki, the Deputy Army Spokesperson, said the group was attacked on Tuesday night, 31st October, 2023 near Kayanja Landing Site off Lake Edward in Kasese District adding that the operation is still ongoing. The point of attack is near the Uganda-Congo border, about 360 Kilometers from Uganda’s Capital City, Kampala.
The UPDF launched the manhunt on October 17th after the heinous attack on the two tourists and their driver/guide.
“An intelligence-led operation saw a number of them perish under the combined fire of UPDF marines, Special Forces, 222, 301 Brigade Infantry squads in a well-coordinated night operation,” Akiiki added .
