Minister Engola’s death; Museveni reshuffles UPDF commanders
Hardly a week after the murder of State Minister for Labour (Rtd) Col Charles Engola by his body guard , Pt Wilson Sabiiti , President Yoweri Museveni has reshuffled commanders in the UPDF.
President Museveni has appointed Maj Gen Don Williams Nabasa as Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division to pacify the Karamoja sub region which has remained insecure due to armed cattle rustlers .
Brig Gen James Kinalwa has been posted as the new Chief of Personnel and Administration ( in charge of the welfare of soldiers) and Brig Gen Eugene Ssenkumba Ssebugwawo is the new in charge of Emergency coordination at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
Brig Gen William Beinomugisha 1s the new Commandant Military Police and Brig Gen Micheal kabango the commander of the 4th Infantry Division .
After his course at the National Defence College ,Brigadier General Daniel Kakono has been reappointed as Commander Field Artillery Division and taken over command and control from the caretaker Colonel Poly Ouma who had been in the office for last one and a half year.
The Chief of Defense Forces, General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi who presided over the handover ceremony congratulated the incoming Commander of the Artillery Division for successfully completing National Defense College, a course that gives capacity of analyzing the general situation of the country, provide solutions for national development and handling security challenges.
“I have trust in you to command the division professionally, efficiently with an accountable force to deliver for the development of the country,” Gen stated.
