FUFA Sacks Uganda Cranes Head Coach Micho ahead of 2026 World Cup
Following Uganda Cranes continued poor performance FUFA has confirmed the termination of head coach Micho Sredojevic. The Cranes failed to qualify for next year’s AFCON.
FUFA said Micho’s sacking was mutually agreed by the two parties and fans of the national team are worried that Uganda might again fail to qualify for the 2026 World Cup whose qualifiers to start in November 2023.
Micho who previously coached the Cranes until 2017 returned to the East African nation in 2021 for a second stint signing a three-year contract after Jonathan McKinstry’s departure.
Micho is remembered for having guided Uganda to the AFCON 2016 finals, the first-ever Afcon tournament after a period of 38 years.
