Energy Minister Nankabirwa warns fuel dealers against increasing pump prices
Uganda’s fuel supplies remain stable despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Energy Minister Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa has said.
The Minister assured the country that as far as fuel products are concerned, Uganda’s current diesel stocks can sustain the country for 21 days, while for petrol it is 26 days. For Jet A1 fuel, the country has a stock that can sustain the country for 38 days.
The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) has worked to diversify fuel sources to mitigate shortages.
The Minister warned oil marketing companies against increasing pump prices unnecessarily, noting that the government is monitoring the situation closely.
The government has reassured the public that they are planning strategically to ensure continued supply to the country.
The reassurance comes amid global oil market pressures linked to tensions in the Middle East.
