Nominations for candidates that will contest for Kawempe Division North by- elections for Member of Parliament (MP) and Kazo-Angola Councillor seats have kicked-off this morning , according to the head of communications at EC ,,Julius Mucunguzi.
The nominations are taking place at the EC offices in Kawempe near Akamwesi Mall, after Kalerwe, along Gayaza Road. At least 13 candates are expected to be nominated .
Henry Makabayi , designate Returning Officer
The first candidate will be nominated at 9am, and others will follow subsequently. By opening time , independent candidate ,Hajjat Hanifah Karadi, was already at the venue .
Nomination exercise are open to media coverage, following guidelines on the ground as guided by the Returning Officer.
Mucunguzi said the Returning Officer, designated by the Commission, for this by-election, is Mr Henry Makabayi and is supported by a number of other EC staff.
Candidates are required by law to be accompanied by only two people- a seconder and a proposer.
