The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and the Uganda National Oil Company have assured the public that Uganda’s fuel supply remains stable and sufficient, despite heightened activity at key distribution points.
In a joint press release issued on April 16, the government said there are no widespread fuel shortages across the country, noting that the current movement of fuel trucks is part of routine operations to meet demand.
Officials explained that increased truck traffic at depots, including those in Namuwongo, is linked to ongoing replenishment efforts and should not be interpreted as a sign of scarcity.
“The Uganda National Oil Company, working with its partners, continues to effectively manage national fuel distribution,” the statement noted.
To further bolster supply, government confirmed that a fuel vessel carrying approximately 119 million litres of petrol docked at Port of Mombasa on April 15. The shipment is expected to reinforce national reserves and ensure continued availability of fuel across the country.
Authorities emphasised their commitment to maintaining a reliable fuel supply chain, adding that the public will be kept informed of any developments.
The reassurance comes amid public concern often triggered by visible surges in fuel transportation, which officials say are normal logistical measures rather than indicators of supply disruption.
