Uganda ‘S Supreme Court holds special session in honour of the late Justice Opio Aweri
Uganda’s special Supreme Court Session has held a special session in honour of the Late Justice Rubby Opio Aweri at the Judiciary headquarters in Kampala. The session was presided over by a bench of five Justices of the Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny Dollo
The others Justices present to honour their fallen colleague were Stella Arach Amoko,Faith Mwondha, Percy Tuhaise and Mike Chibita.
The motion to commemorate the life and service of Justice Apio Aweri was moved by Deputy Attorney General Jackson Kafuuzi and supported by Chief Administrator of Courts Sarah Langa Siu.
The body of Justice Opio is slated to lay in state at the Parliamentary buildings on Tuesday in honor of his distinguished service and career as a judicial officer that spanned four decades. Justice Opio (69) was also the Chief Inspector of Courts-at the time of his demise.
He suffered a stroke and died at Mulago National Referral Hospital. He will be buried on Friday December 16,2022 at Acungapanyi Cell in his home district of Dokolo.
