Electoral Commission Holds SIGs Training for Journalists In Kampala
The Electoral Commission (EC) has conducted a training for Central Region based journalists to equip them with knowledge and hands-on skills about the forth coming Special Interest Groups (SIGs) elections.
At the training, held at Hotel Africana, Electoral Commission Spokesperson, Julius Mucunguzi , underscored the important role journalists play in disseminating information to the public about elections related matters.
“The media plays a vital role in shaping public opinion and informing citizens about the activities of Special Interest Groups. We urge journalists to be objective and balanced in their reporting, providing citizens with the information they need to make informed decisions,” Mucunguzi stated.
The journalists were educated about reporting on SIGs, the role and functions of SIGs, identifying and tracking SIG activities, and maintaining objectivity and independence in reporting as core principles of good journalism .
