The Babiito Royal Clan of Tooro Kingdom has set September 29 as the date for the coronation of Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I as the new Omukama of Tooro.
The announcement was made on Tuesday evening by Musuuga Charles Kamurasi, the head of the Babiito Royal Clan.
Kamurasi said the date was set after the Tooro Kingdom Supreme Council confirmed Nyabongo I as the successor to Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who died on August 27.

He said the confirmation has paved the way for preparations for the coronation, with all clans, county chiefs and other kingdom leaders instructed to begin preparations from Wednesday.
Kamurasi said the coronation will follow traditional rituals through which Nyabongo I will be formally installed on the throne.
He said on the coronation day, Nyabongo I will enter the palace through Mugabante, where he will engage in a mock battle and emerge victorious.
He will then be led into the palace through the main entrance, known as Omusanga, before being taken to the royal throne, where he will sit as the new Omukama of Tooro.
Kamurasi said the new king will undergo other traditional rituals during the coronation but declined to disclose details, saying they are part of the kingdom’s traditions.
Kamurasi has called on the people of Tooro to prepare for the coronation and participate in the ceremony that will formally mark the beginning of Nyabongo I’s reign.
Meawhile, eleite commandos from the Special Forces Command (SFC) working together with the Police’s Joint Anti-Terrorism (JAT) unit, have taken over the Omukama’s security .
According to sources within the organizing committee, the security review was ordered through the office of Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, following a request to strengthen protection around the incoming king and key members of his family including his mother who resided in Kidukuru.
