Electoral Commission To hold By Election For Adjumani West MP Seat On September 17,2026 Following Death Of Gen Moses Ali
The Electoral Commission has set September 17, 2026, as the polling date for the Adjumani West Constituency parliamentary by-election following the death of former MP and Second Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali, the EC Chairman , Justice Simon Byabakama has announced .
The date was set following a successful stakeholders engagement held at the Adjumani district council hall to launch the electoral process.
Campaigns are scheduled to run from September 9 to September 15, 2026.

According to the EC Spokesperson , Mr. Julius Mucunguzi, a by-election for an MP seat is supposed to be conducted within 60 days after receiving notification from the Clerk to Parliament .
The veteran politician and four-star general died at the age of 87 on July 18, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
He had earlier been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West during the January 2026 general elections.
