The Electoral Commission has set September 17, 2026,as the polling date for the Adjumani West Constituency parliamentary by-election following the death of former MP and Second Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali, the EC Chairman , Justice Simon Byabakama has announced .
The date was set following a successful stakeholders engagement held at the Adjumani district council hall to launch the electoral process.
Campaigns are scheduled to run from September 9 to September 15, 2026.
According to the EC Spokesperson , Mr. Julius Mucunguzi, a by-election for an MP seat is supposed to be conducted within 60 days after receiving notification from the Clerk to Parliament .
The veteran politician and four-star general died at the age of 87 on July 18, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
He had earlier been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West during the January 2026 general elections.
