Today the Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting the Kikuube District Chairperson by-election.
The by-election was called following the death of the incumbent District Chairperson, Mr. Peter Banura Araali,who died in a road accident on April 4, 2026.
According to the EC official , Mr. Paul Bukenya , the nominated candidates who are contesting in the election are Paddy Kisembo from the NRM party and Fenekansi Timanyire from the opposition NUP.
Bukenya said that there are 153,186 voters (77, 529 Female and 75,657 Male) will go will cast their votes at 330 designated polling stations .
At the time of his death, Araali Banura had also been the District Chairperson-elect.
The Commission has urged all political actors, voters, and other stakeholders to abide by the EC regulations while they exercise their right to vote .
