State House Comptroller Barekye visits Bulange Mengo, dialogues with Buganda Prime Minister Mayiga
The State House Comptroller, Ms.Jane Barekye had a rare visit at Bulange Mengo and held talks with the Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Mayiga .
Ms. Barekye also carried a strong message to Mengo stating that State House will continue to build on the good relations to ensure economic growth and national development . Among other areas discussed included the fight against poverty especially among the urban youth.
Barekye told Mayiga that President Yoweri Museveni through State House is implementing several development programs in the Industrial Zonal Hubs to skill the youth that are geared at improving the welfare citizens in Buganda kingdom and throughout the the country.
“The State House and Buganda have a good working relationship and we commit to continue cooperating for the development of Uganda,” said Barekye.
The Katikkiro Mayiga welcomed Ms. Barekye to Bulange and thanked President Museveni and the central government for partnering with traditional institutions to economically empower the population . He noted that the State House’s skilling programs are important to improve the livelihoods of the youth.
The Katikkiro briefed Barekye about the on going Kingdom’s development programs such as revival of coffee farminh (emwanyi telimba) and the promotion of a saving culture and cooperative movement by initiating saving schemes such as Powesa among others.
