Speaker Anita Annet Among led a delegation of MPs to Bulange-Mengo and met with Buganda’s Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga in a public partnership to support the annual Kabaka Birthday Run, scheduled for April 7, 2024. The proceeds from this event will aid in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda.
Muwanga Kivumbi, Chairperson of the Buganda Caucus, thanked MPs from the different regions of the country who accompanied Speaker Among during the historic visit to Mengo. Anita Among was the first sitting Speaker of the National Parliament to visit Mengo the administrative seat of Buganda kingdom.
Among said that an institution of the Parliament, they are in full support of the Kabaka’s initiative to fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda. Parliament has contributed Ug.shs. 50m towards the cause.
Katikkiro Mayiga welcomed parliament’s gesture of good will and called upon politicians and their supporters to also join the fight against HIV/AIDS.
“Such collective efforts significantly contribute to fostering national unity and advancing Uganda’s progress,” Kivumbi stated.
