President Yoweri Museveni has endorsed Defence Minister Jacob Oboth-Oboth as the next Speaker of Parliament.
Daudi Kabanda, the Secretary General of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), told guests at Oboth-Oboth’s thanksgiving ceremony in Mukono following his swearing-in as Member of Parliament for West Budama Central that he had been sent by CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to deliver the message about President Museveni’s endorsement of Oboth-Oboth.
The event was attended hundreds of MPs and several military serving generals . Kabanda told Oboth-Oboth amid applause that he would become the next Speaker of Uganda’s national parliament.
Gen Kainerugaba had earlier said PLU would back any candidate endorsed by the President. Kabanda also said they would recommend a female deputy speaker.
