The National Unity Platform (NUP) has declared Lawyer Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola as their flag bearer for the hotly contested Kawempe North by-election.
Luyimbaazi Nalukoola was declared by National Unity Platform Election Management Committee at the party headquarters in Makerere Kavuule. One of the candidates, Moses Nsereko, who expressed interest in the NUP flag collapsed after the officials announced Nalukoola as the NUP candidate .
Nalukoola express heartfelt appreciation to the National Unity Platform for placing trust in him to be the flag bearer and the official candidate in the forthcoming Kawempe North By-Election.
Nalukoola noted that he has been entrusted with a ticket from a formidable political party of ‘our time’.
The by-election takes place on March 13 with NUP the hot favourite to retain the metropolitan seat.
The party had earlier compelled each of the 10 aspirants into a written agreement that they would not pursue independent interests in the event they lost the race for the flag.
