NOTU General Secretaries Hold Sensitization Workshop About The Employment Amendment Act 2026
National Organisation of Trade Unions (NOTU) General Secretaries Sensitization workshop on the Employment Amendment Act, 2026 hasbeen held today at Eureka hotel inNtinda.
The General Secretaries were acquinted with the new amendments that were made on the original Employment Act 2006.
Head of Programs at Platform for Labour Action (PLA) ,Ms Lydia Bwitte , was the main rainer and resource person.
NOTU Secretary General,Richard Bigirwa said the training is aimed at inculcating into General Secretaries key new provisions in the Employment Amendment Act .
He said the law now gives new mechanisms for implementation of the law , enforcement and remedies for violations on the labour law in Uganda.
General Secretaries expressed their concerns on the absence of mechanisms for effective enforcement of the Labour Laws by the Gender , Labour and Social Development (GLSD ) Ministry.
As a result several employers take advantage to violate Labour Laws with impunity.
However ,the trade union leaders are upbeat that the Amended Employment Act empowers them strategically on how to tackle Labour challenges in employment.
