Museveni Receives UGX 1.366 Billion From Japan

The Government of Japan has signed a grant agreement worth UGX 1.366 billion with Uganda. The grant will support the strengthening of the country’s emergency and disaster prevention systems, a key area of focus for President Yoweri Museveni’s administration.

As part of this agreement, Uganda’s Ministry of Health will receive 10 second-hand ambulances and 5 fire trucks. These crucial resources will be allocated across 3 cities and 8 districts, significantly improving emergency response in areas that have long suffered from inadequate equipment.

The partnership is expected to bolster Uganda’s preparedness for handling natural disasters, fires, road accidents, and other emergency situations.

The Japanese government has been a longstanding development partner of Uganda, supporting various initiatives aimed at improving health, infrastructure, and education.

This latest contribution is set to make a meaningful difference in the country’s ability to handle crises, particularly in remote regions where emergency services are often lacking.

Japan’s ambassador to Uganda, while signing the agreement, emphasized the importance of strengthening Uganda’s disaster response capacity, noting that effective emergency services are crucial for saving lives.

The fire trucks and ambulances will be deployed in strategic locations to ensure that they can serve the maximum number of people.

President Museveni praised the grant, noting that it aligns with his government’s commitment to improving healthcare and public safety across the country.

He reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to its long-standing partnership with Japan, revealing that such collaborations are vital for the country’s development.

This grant marks another step forward in Uganda’s efforts to improve the safety and well-being of its citizens, as the country continues to build resilience against disasters and emergencies.
