Official nationwide campaigns for the Uganda Local Council One (LC I) chairperson and Village Women Committee elections officially started on Monday, July 20, 2026.
The EC has directed that all campaign meetings and rallies be conducted strictly between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the designated campaign days.
Campaign activities must also be confined to the candidate’s respective village.
The Electoral Commission of Uganda (EC) has structured the campaign timeline for women committees to run from July y 20 – July 22, 2026, and LC I Chairperson campaigns will be conducted from July 20 – July 27, 2026.
According to the EC daily campaign hours have been set at 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM .
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Justice Sumin Byabakama Mugenyi has since called upon the citizens to actively participate in the Local Council I & II and Women Council/Committees Elections.
Byabakama emphasized peaceful participation, civic responsibility and making informed electoral choices, and called on all Ugandans to support the Commission’s efforts to deliver free, fair and credible elections.
He advised voters to remain at their respective polling stations after casting their ballots to witness the counting of votes and ensure total transparency.
