Electoral Commission Has Started Hearing Petetions And Complaints For LC 1 Elections-EC Boss Justice Byabakama
The Uganda Electoral Commission (EC) officially commenced hearing petitions and complaints arising from the registration and nomination of candidates for the Local Council I (LC1) elections, the EC boss Justice Simon Byabakama has stated .
Byabakama who was addressing the media said that the hearings which started today will be considered at the EC’s offices in the Industrial Area, Kampala.
The Commission has received dozens of disputes, primarily centered around Kampala contest areas.
Most petitions involve candidate residency status, discrepancies in voter registers, and queries regarding wrongful nominations.
While the main commission handles high-profile or centralized cases, complaints from upcountry districts are being managed directly by district returning officers.
The hearings will run continuously and must be resolved before the official polling day.
