Veteran Sports Journalist, Allan Ssekamatte Laid To Rest In Butambala
Allan Ssekamatte, a veteran sports journalist an economist by training and known for his vast knowledge of sports and sharp intellect has been laid to rest at the family ‘s ancestoral burial ground in Butambala. The funeral was atttended by a big number of mourners . He was in his mid 50s.
Ssekamatte passed away at Kiruddu Referral Hospital after multiple organ failure following a long history of heart disease.
Sekamatte was prominent columnist for the Daily Monitor and a former education editor at the same publication.
Ssekamatte, toether with colleagues Mark Ssali, Mark Namanya and Josephy Kabuleta are widwly known for their successful sports talk sgows on WBS in the early 2000s, and they co-hosted Scoreline on Monitor FM, now KFM.
Throughout his career, Ssekamatte was regarded as a mentor who helped shape the standards of sports reporting in Uganda. His columns were frequently cited for their ability to provide context to local and international sports.
Ssekamatte is survived by his wife and two daughters aged 23 and 18 ,respectively .
