Veteran Politician and Pesident Yoweri Musveni’s teacher Yona Kanyomozi is dead . He passed on at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala. He was 82 years old.
Reliable sources told ugandaupdatenews.com that Kanyomozi was suffering from cancer. He was the former Minister of Cooperatives and Marketing and Member of Parliament for Bushenyi South in Obote II’s government.
Mzee Yona as he was fondly called, once told the media that without him President Museveni would not have passed mathematics at Junior Secondary School since he was his teacher after his O-Level.
About his legacy he once stated that he was concerned about the ordinary people. “This is what formed my drive for co-operatives because they bridge the gap of democratic participation, stand for my socialist ideals, promote sense of ownership and that has guided my outlook to politics and life in general.”
