The leader of Ukraine’s Catholic church has insisted that the Vatican document endorsed by the Pope allowing same-sex couple blessings didn’t apply to his church because it wasn’t reference specifically.
“Thus this Declaration applies solely to the Latin Church and has no legal force for the faithful of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church,” Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk said in a statement.
A blessing, he added, “can in no way contradict the teaching of the Catholic Church about the family as a faithful, indissoluble, and fertile union of love between a man and a woman.”
