President Museveni Appoints Haruna Kasolo Acting Foreign Affairs Minister 

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed State Minister for Foreign Affairs (Regional Affairs), Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, pending resolution of the citizenship-related issues of four of his cabinent appointments that included Adonia Ayebare who had been posted to the docket as the substantive minister .

In a presidential letter dated June 22, 2026, Museveni invoked powers under Article 99(1) of the Constitution and formally designated Kasolo to oversee the ministry in the absence of a substantive minister.

“In exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 99(1) of the Constitution, I hereby appoint you as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the absence of a substantive Minister,” Museveni stated in his brief letter .
