NDA Enforcement of Standards ; 70 Shops closed, Fake Drugs Worth Millions impounded
The National Drug Authority (NDA) continues to enforce standards to save lives and has clamped down on shops selling fake drugs living 70 of them closed down and 140 boxes of drugs worth 40 million shillings impounded. This during a seven day compliance enforcement operation on going in seven districts of the Rwenzori region.
The NDA operation was carried out in the districts of Kabarole, Fort Portal city , Bunyangabu, Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa, Ntoroko and Bundibugyo.
Mr.Samuel Kyomukama, the head of enforcement at NDA said that three people were arrested in Bundibugyo district after they were found operating drug shops with unauthorized personnel and licenses.
Kyomukama warned drug dealers to comply with NDA SOPs , have qualified personnel to dispense medicine and sell on drugs cleared by the drugs authority plus having valid licenses .
