MINISTER NABAKOOBA ANNOUNCES COUNTRES WHOSE NATIONALS MUST TEST FOR COVID-19 BEFORE ENTERING UGANDA

The Minister of  ICT AND NG ,Ms. Judith Nabakooba, has named 10 countries including EAC member states whose nationals will undergo mandatory Covid-19 test before they are allowed to enter the country .

In her weekly media briefing at the Ministry’s headoffice in Kampala, Nabakooba that travelers  from USA, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Tanzania will have to undergo  COVID-19 tests before allowed in Uganda.

“Travelers from these countries will be paying 65 US dollars for the COVID test upon arrival. However,  travelers who are  fully vaccinated  and are asymptomatic,  will not require testing,” she explained.

The minister re-echoed President Yoweri Museveni ‘s call fir Ugandans to get back to serious work after along heated- political season to boost incomes at the household level .  Nabakooba said that the new development model introduced by government to be implemented at the Parish level,  resources will be directly managed by the people through SACCOS and not the technocrats.

In his address to the  nation after his swearing , President Museveni warned Ugandans and their leaders against diverting wealth creation funds for  other un-intended activities. “The wider regional markets together with the Parish Development model are going to be key pillars in the fight against poverty,” Nabakooba stated ,adding that the battle against poverty requires a lot of hard work.
