Minister Anite Meets TUPSA Leadership Over High Taxes
State Minister for Finance in-charge of Privatisation and Investments, Ms. Evelyne Anite held a meeting at the Ministry of finance Headquarters with TUPSA members led by their Chairman , Mr.Grace Matsiko, to discuss issues affecting the private security firms following a request from the association leadership.
Accompanied by the ministry of finance technical team, Hon. Anite directed the finance officials to work with TUPSA and review some of the tax policies the association is calling for repeal before the next National Budget cycle which begins in June this year.
In the presentation, Matsiko, Sanjay Tanna and Moses Tumwebaze, the two co-opted by the executive to boost the Secretariat, presented a number of tax issues and fees that affect the work of Private Security companies/ organizations (PSOs) that require urgent intervention by the government. They argued that high taxes are stifling the growth of private security industry.
The discussion centred around costs of weapon and ammunition acquisition, VAT, PAYE, Income Tax and other Non-Tax Revenues.
Minister Anite directed the finance technical team to study the issues raised and find a lasting solution .
