First lady and Minister of Education and Sports , Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni has called upon church leaders to preach the gospel that is going to instil good character among their followers especially the youth .

“Therefore, I urge you to reflect on the development of character that adheres to values such as integrity, stewardship, and servant leadership, as well as the importance of demonstrating respect for those in authority in the Church hierarchy and structure.

“Only then will we raise a generation that serves with dignity and influence, in their respective areas of calling,” the first lady stated .

Minister Judith Nabakooba represented the First Lady Janet Museveni at the well attended event

This was in a speech that was read for her by the Minister of  Lands , Housing and Urban Development , Ms. Judith Nabakooba at Calidality Worship Center Church in Kyotera District.   She was speaking at the 4th Annual Mid-Year Ministers’ Conference.

While quoting the bible in Matthew 28:18-20, Hon. Janet Museveni saidthe Lord Jesus, at the time of his departure from this world, called on us to “disciple nations”, in the words of the Great Commission that is familiar to all of us here.  It states:

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Sadly, the First Lady noted that contrary to this teaching, in an effort to be relevant to the younger generation, many ministries today choose to live in accordance with the fashions, culture, and language of the world, believing that this is one way of identifying with those they desire to reach with the Gospel.

“Regrettably, I have observed and have concerns that the body of Christ in Uganda currently faces the challenge, of some leaders who are unwilling to be held accountable; resulting in them resisting correction, when they are “called out”, for misconduct or for misleading their flock.  “

“I strongly caution the Church against taking this approach to “effectively ministering” to this generation, because it paradoxically leads to the Church being “discipled” by the world”, she stressed .

She added ; “Leaders, I beseech you as you shepherd the body of Christ, to avoid compromising our values, standards and beliefs.   Instead “teach them to obey everything He has commanded us”, and this is the challenge I leave with you today, as you hold conversations on Effectively ministering to this generation”.

The conference was attended by among others ,Pastor Ronald Ssentamu, Overseer Calidality Ministries International, Pastor Caleb Hawley, Executive Pastor of Life Source Community Church-USA,nPastor Anele Nogemane, Pastor of Sanctuary Church-Johannesburg South Africa, Apostle Dr. Joseph Serwadda- Presiding Apostle Born Again Faith in Uganda and Bishop Sserwadda Leonard-South Buganda Diocese Masaka Region.
