The Isebantu Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, has rallied the youth to embrace education, vocational skills, and agriculture to drive development in the kingdom.
Addressing subjects during his 12th coronation anniversary celebrations at Mayuge District headquarters on Saturday 19th September 2026, the Kyabazinga called on young people to be more responsible and priotise things that benefit their lives and that of their families.
Speaking on the theme “Strengthening our culture and traditions through development,” he highlighted key community initiatives aimed at youth growth.
”Through the Kyabazinga Initiatives with support from UN aggencies such as UNICEF, we launched ‘Abasadha N’empango’ programme with the aim of ralling men and boys to to fight teenage pregnancy and keep children in school,” Nadiope IV stated.
He also encouraged his subjects to take advantage of the rainy season to grow food crops inorder to fight household food insecurity.
He encouraged the youth to engage in Kingdoms programmes like cocoa and coffee farming, tree planting, and sports, while thanking President Yoweri Museveni for the support to Busoga Kingdom.
President Museveni Commends Unity
In a message delivered by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, President Yoweri Museveni congratulated the Kyabazinga upon reaching his 12th Coronation Anniversary and praised his leadership for ensuring unity and improving living conditions across Busoga.
”Since ascending the throne on September 13, 2014, you have promoted unity, established development programmes, and improved health and education services, significantly reducing poverty,” Museveni noted.
Nabanjja communicated president Museveni’s commitment to support Busoga Kingdom’s development plan.
The President contributed UGX 30 million to the event, handed over to Busoga Prime Minister (Katuukiro) Dr. Joseph Muvawala, and reaffirmed Government’s commitment to building roads, schools, and health facilities in the region.
Government and Regional Leaders Speak.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja revealed a directive from President Museveni urging regional leaders to advise residents against small-scale sugarcane growing in favor of fast-maturing food and cash crops.
The 3rd Deputy Prime Minister Rukia Nakadama expressed gratitude for her appointment to the anniversary organizing committee and thanked well-wishers for attending in large numbers.
Minister for the Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda commended the Kyabazinga for collaborating with DLLN-Uganda to construct a nine classroom block, girls and boys dormitory plus a modern kitchen at Kitaidhumba community primary school in Budiope.
The Prime minister of Busoga Dr. Joseph Muvawala thanked Kingdom develpoment partners such as MTN Uganda, Mayuge sugar, Keshwaala group, among other companies and individual sponsors.
Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga who spoke on the sidelines of the event, highlighted the strong cultural ties between Buganda and Busoga, commending His Majesty William Nadiope IV for safeguarding the kingdom’s heritage.
Present were Representatuves of other kingdoms, The deputy Prime minister Prof Lubega and Owek Osman Noor, hereditary chiefs led by the Chief Prince (Isabalangira) of Busoga Samuel Zirabamuzale Nkuutu, clan heads led by Isabakungania Richard Mafumo, Heads of religious institutions, kingdom ministers and members of parliament from Busoga.
The festivities featured a ceremonial cake cutting with key dignitaries and musical performances by Acidic Vokoz, Afande Kadabada, Tina Baibe, Cilikon Avokoz, and several school choirs. –
