GEN. MUSEVENI APPOINTS, GEN MBADI NEW COMMANDER OF ARMED FORCES AND LT.GEN MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA COMMANDER OF LAND FORCES

President Yoweri Museveni , the Commander in Chief of armed forces has appointed , Lt Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi  the new Commander of the Defence Forces(CDF) replacing David Muhoozi, who was appointed State Minister for Internal Affairs.

Gen Museveni has also appointed his son , Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Commander of the Land Forces . Others appointed are Lt. Gen Peter Elweru has been appointed Deputy CDF and Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda who has been the Chief of Staff Land Forces has now been appointed the Joint Chief of Staff to replace Lieutenant General Joseph Musanyufu who has been sent to civil service for redeployment.

Others are  Brig. Peter Chandia appointed the new Special Forces Commander, Maj Gen Sam Kavuma appointed as the deputy coordinator of the Operation Wealth Creation whereas Maj Gen Sam Okiding is the new Deputy Commander of Land Forces .

About Gen. Mbadi
  Gen. Mbadi (59 )  who hails from  Kasese district, is a senior military officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF)  who has served as the Deputy Chief of the Defense Forces (CDF).

 Lt. Gen. Mbadi also served as the Joint Chief of Staff of the UPDF a position he served from May 2013 until January 2017 where he was replaced by Major General Joseph Musanyufu.
He was also ADC to the President of Uganda.
