Electoral Commission Officially Hands Over Certificate Of Registration To Besigye’s PFF
The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially handed the newly formed People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party its certificate of registration ahead of the 2026 general elections .
The promoters of the new party who included Kampala City Mayor Elias Lukwago and outspoken Kiira municipality MP, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda ,have since thanked the EC for granting their party a certificate of registration paving way for their participation in the national elections early next year .

EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi explained that the Commission acted in compliance with the Political Parties and Organizations Act of 2005. He noted that the publication of the application in the Gazette was to inform the public and invite any objections within the specified period.
With the certificate of registration, PFF is now a formally recognized political party in Uganda. The EC will continue to oversee the party’s activities and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
