EACOP Hosts PAU Board for Supervisory Visit at Main Camp and Pumping Station
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) team welcomed the Board of Directors from the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) to Main Camp and Pumping Station 1 (MCPS1) for a supervisory visit. The visit was an opportunity for the PAU board to gain first-hand insight into the progress of Uganda’s oil and gas projects, focusing on the ongoing construction and development efforts of EACOP.
Led by the PAU Board Chairperson, Ms. Lynda Biribonwa, the board members observed the advancements in the pipeline’s construction. Our Deputy Managing Director, Mr. John Bosco Habumugisha, guided the team through various on-site operations, highlighting milestones such as the stringing and welding of pipes at MCPS1. As of October 31 2024, over 1.8 kilometers of pipeline has been strung and welded.
The PAU board’s visit aligns with their oversight mandate, providing an in-depth understanding of the oil and gas development efforts in the Albertine Graben region. By witnessing the ongoing work at MCPS1, the board were able to directly assess the progress and strategic operations essential to achieving Uganda’s energy goals. This hands-on experience strengthens the PAU’s capacity to oversee the sector and reinforces EACOP’s commitment to transparency and collaborative progress in Uganda’s oil and gas development.
