The Under Secretary in charge of Finance and Administration Ms. Patricia E. Lakidi has this afternoon presided over the handover ceremony of the Office of Commissioner for Refugees to Mr. Patrick Okello.
While representing the Permanent Secretary, the Under Secretary hailed Mr. Douglas Asiimwe who has been holding fort since 2021 to-date for the great work he has done during the time as Ag. Commissioner for Refugees.
She also asked Douglas to support the new Commissioner for Refugees in his new role since he’s coming from a different sector. Mr. Douglas Asiimwe who now takes on his role as Assistant Commissioner for Refugees pledged to support the new Commissioner in his tasks.
On his part, Mr. Okello Patrick the newly appointed Commissioner for Refugees pledged to promote teamwork among staff of the Department of Refugees and also ensure continued mutual working relationship with development partners and stakeholders in the Refugee response in the country.
Okello was formerly the Commissioner, Human Resource Management at the Office of the Prime Minister. The handover ceremony which was held at the Department of Refugees office in Old Kampala was witnessed by the Internal Audit Division and the Department of Human Resource Management.
