Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame and UK’s Princess Charles have held talks about  ongoing preparations of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting  (CHOGM 2022) which will be held in  Kigali, Rwanda in June.

“Had a productive phone conversation with Prince Charles.  We look forward to welcoming to CHOGM2022  guests. We discussed partnerships that include addressing climate change and the ongoing success of the Sustainable Markets Initiative”, President Kagame tweeted.

“With  this shared sense of common purpose and in view of recent enforcements, my wife and I are delighted to be attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, in June.”

The leaders summit will be preceded by meeting for representatives from Commonwealth networks  for youth, women, civil society, and business actors discussing current political, economic, social and environmental issues.”

Rwanda will be hosting this high level meeting after it was canceled in 2020 following the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic. Uganda hosted the same in 2008.
