Vice President Alupo Opens Uganda’s Embassy in Havana, Cuba
Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Alupo i has officiated at the official opening of the country’s embassy in Havana, Cuba.
Alupo, who represented President Yoweri Museveni at a two-day meeting of Heads of State of the Group 77 plus China on the Science, Technology, and Innovations Summit, September 15–16, 2023 was joined by Alupo and her Cuban counterpart, Salvador Valdés Mesa, to open Uganda’s Embassy in Havana, which was closed 22 years ago in August 2001.
Uganda and Cuba also signed two Memoranda of Understanding on Regular Diplomatic Consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs and a Collaboration Agreement in the fields of Science, Technology, and Innovations, respectively.
Gen. Jeje Odongo Abubakhar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed on behalf of the Republic of Uganda, while Bruno Rodriguez Parilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Elba Rosa Peréz Montoya, Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment, signed on behalf of the Republic of Cuba, respectively.
Uganda’s Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba, Elizabeth Sylvia Musazi was also in attendance .
