URA Collects Shs 15 Trillion says they shall hit the Shs 22 Trillion Target

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has released new tax revenue collection figures showing that during the period July to March, they have collected and remitted to the national treasury UGX 15,466.68 billion representing 69.16% of the annual target.

The tax body says that there was significant growth in revenue of UGX 1,490.41 billion (10.66%) – registered in the period July to March FY 2021/22 compared to the same period in the FY 2020/21. There was however – the outturn for the period was short of the target of UGX 16,532.43 billion by UGX 1,065.75 billion.

The URA Commissioner General Mr.John Musinguzi said that with only two months to close the FY 2021-22, the tax revenue collected were impressive given global impact of COVID 19, that shattered businesses which are now picking-up. “ We want to commend all taxpayers for your consistent fulfilment of your tax obligations. It is because of you that the Government has been able to provide the much- needed social services.”

“We shall within our means continue to support businesses to remain afloat so that they are able to contribute revenue.”

“We are optimistic that we shall meet this target,” Musinguzi told the media Tuesday, “I call upon all Ugandans to collaborate with us as we develop Uganda together. I would also like to thank the media for the continued support towards domestic revenue mobilization.
