ISRAEL PRIME MINISTER NETANYAHU JOINS OTHER WORL LEADERS TO CONGRATULATE GEN.MUSEVENI ON ELECTION VICTORY
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu has congratulated President Yoweri Museveni on his reelection as President of Uganda. “Dear friend,” Netanyahu wrote, “congratulations on your reelection as president of Uganda.”
He added: “In the recent years, the ties between our two countries have become stronger and I am confident that through the joint efforts of our governments, Israeli – Ugandan cooperation will continue to expand.” “I wish you much success as you begin your new term in office and I look forward to further enhancing our relations for the mutual benefit of both our countries. “
Relations between the two countries started as far back as 1962, just after Uganda had got Independence from the British government, with Israel becoming one of the first countries to set up an embassy in Kampala.
Although this strong bond was broken in the 1970s, during the reign of President Idi Amin, the last few years have seen the reenactment of warm ties between Israel and Uganda.
