UGANDA”S JAS MANGAT WINS PEARL OF AFRICA RALLY AS FMU PARTNERED WITH KIIRA MOTORS TO OFFER SHUTTLE SERVICES ON THEIR KAYOOLA ELECTRIC BUSES
Uganda’s Jas Mangat and navigator Joseph Kamya have won the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally at Lugazi. This was the third round of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) that had at least 8 crews from across Africa -participate .
Racing in a Mitsubishi Lancer EvoX Mangat took his day one lead all the way to the podium on Sunday afternoon.
Mangat and his co driver Kamya will now fly business class to Dubai courtesy of Uganda Airlines who were part of the sponsors the two day event.
Zambia’s couple Gomes Leroy Gabriel and Gomes Urshlla driving a Ford Fiesta R5 came in second position with a time of 1:58.11. The couple are current leaders of the ARC. Rwanda’s Giancarlo Davite and his co-driver Vindevogel Sylvia of Burundi took 3rd position.
Uganda’s flagship automakers -Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC) partnered with the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of Uganda (FMU) to offer shuttle services for the rally drivers in the Kayoola EVs- the fully electric buses made in Uganda .
The event attracted a record 49 drivers .
