Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Plans To Split Regulatory and Airport Operations

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority will split the regulatory and airport operations, officials have said .

This structural reform aims to eliminate conflicts of interest, tighten safety oversight, and align Uganda’s aviation sector with global industry best practices.

A newly established, autonomous entity will take over the ownership, management, and daily operations of airports in Uganda (including Entebbe International Airport.

The UCAA will maintain its role as the standalone regulator handling safety and security oversight, air navigation services, consumer protection, and the regulation of airport charges.[
