Two Retired UPDF Generals Kandiho And Bakahumura Arrested

Two retired Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) generals, Major General (rtd) Abel Kandiho and Brigadier General (rtd) Charles Bakahumura have been arrested .

The two retired UPDF senior officers were both former heads of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI)—now known as Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS)—were detained under the orders of the Chief of Defence Forces.

Maj Gen Abel Kandiho was apprehended by security operatives at his farm in Gomba district. Details surrounding the exact location of Brig Gen. Charles Bakahumura ‘s arrest remain unclear.

The arrests came after the Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba said he would detain retired generals who attended a farewell event at State House and were filmed dancing following their retirement from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

Gen Muhoozi last night posted on X: “One is running for dear life in one of his farms in Gomba. He might try escaping to Rwanda. We shall capture him wherever he goes.”
