NRM PRIMARIES SET AND VOTERS WILL LINE-UP BEHIND CANDIDATES

As the political tempo gains momentum ahead of what is anticipated to be a hotly contested 2021 general elections, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party  Central Executive Committee (CEC) has approved the election Roadmap for its primaries also known as (Kamyufu) and adopted lining behind the candidates as their  mode of voting.

The NRM Director of Information and Communications Mr. Emmanuel Dombo, said that the NRM  election roadmap will be rolled out while following the health guidelines set up by government to stem the spread of the novel global Covi-19 pandemic that has caused havoc on all the seven continents.

Nomination for  NRM Members of Parliament and LC 5 Chairpersons will be carried out from 10th to 17th August in Kampala  while nomination for Special Interest Groups (SIG) will take place from 20th to 22nd July and voting for the same will be held on 25th July 2020.

The election for MPs will take place on 7th September 2020, the LC 5 Chairpersons, Councilors, Municipal Mayors and Division Mayors, LC 3 chairpersons and their councilors will be on 28th August 2020.

 Dombo said that election will take place on same day throughout the Country contrary to earlier reports that it would be held in Regions.

No open campaigns through rallies will be allowed and voters are expected  to wear face masks and polling officials to ensure a two-meter social distance. The NRM National chairman President Museveni told CEC members that the lining up was cost effective and prevents elections rigging.
