Govt Chief Whip Obua Hands Over Tractor F or Agriculture In Alebtong

The Government Chief Whip, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua has on behalf of government handed over fourteen Handheld Tractors and one big multipurpose Tractor to all Sub-Counties and the District of Alebtong, respectively.
Obua said the modern agricultural machines are meant to support farmers to achieve commercial agriculture.
“These tractors are to boost agricultural production and support the implementation of PDM agricultural enterprises to fundamentally transform the community from meagre subsistence farming to lucrative commercial agriculture,” said.
He emphasized that the National Resistance Government is committed to promoting and modernizing agriculture to create jobs and wealth.
“Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy and the NRM government under the stewardship of President Yoweri Museveni is fully committed to promoting and modernizing agriculture for the optimal benefit of our people in terms of jobs and wealth,” he said.
Alebtong, which is already serving the Lango sub-region, aims to become the food basket of the neighboring sub-regions of Acholi, Karamoja and Teso.
Farmers in Alebtong mainly plant soybeans as cash crop and maize, simsim, rice and cassava for both food and cash.
Alebtong district has 5 Sub-Counties including Abako, Aloi, Amugo, Apala and Omoro. The district has 35 parishes and 580 villages.
