Govt Bans Bryan White Foundation

The government through the National Bureau for Non-Governmental Organizations has cancelled the operating license of Bryan White Foundation, an organization belonging to Kampala socialite Bryan Kirumira.

The board’s the Senior Communication Officer says at the prompting of Parliament, they launched investigations into the activities of Bryan White’s foundation which was registered in in January 2019.

Parliament’s letter to the NGO board followed accusations against Bryan White by several girls of sexual harassment, with some of the girls saying they had spent months in Bryan White’s house workng as sex slaves.

The NGO board’s investigations established that whereas Bryan White’s Foundation was supposed to be a company limited by guarantee with a Board of directors and other members who would meet annually for a general meeting, Bryan White was single handedly running the ‘organization’ which did not even bother to carry out any of the functions that it had been licensed to perform like looking after orphans and widows.

Besides, the ‘organization’ was found not to have any physical address as only a banner hanging in front of an unfinished building was found at the address it had indicated in its registration documents. The ‘orgnisation’s bank account also had only two transactions since its registration, one when Kirumira deposited sh10 million and the second when he withdrew the money soon after.

Finally, when the board wrote to Kirumira to furnish an explanation of the Foundation’s operations, the letter went unanswered since July 22nd this year. The Board this decided to withdraw the operating permit and cancel the registration of Bryan White Foundation.
