Former Karamoja Minister Kitutu’s Case Adjourned Due To Wrong Date On The Bail Papers

Hearing of former Karamoja Affairs Minister, Mary Goretti Kitutu’s ,iron sheets case has suffered yet another set bacl after her brother, Michael Naboya Kitutu, failed to appear in court over a bizarre error in his bail documents.

Michael’s bail paperwork reportedly listed September 31, 2026 as the date for his appearance, a date that does not exist forcing the court to adjourn the matter to October.

Kitutu and her former personal assistant, Joshua Abaho, appeared before Justice David Makumbi on Tuesday, September 1, as the court continued handling the high-profile case.

The accused persons are facing charges related to causing loss of public property in connection with the alleged diversion of pre-painted iron sheets that were meant for vulnerable communities in Karamoja.

The latest adjournment adds to a series of delays that have affected the widely followed case stemming from the 2022 Karamoja iron sheets scandal, which has implicated several government officials.

Investigations into the scandal began in 2023, with authorities probing allegations that relief items meant for vulnerable communities were diverted and distributed to individuals who were not their intended beneficiaries.

The case is expected to resume in October, subject to the court’s directions.
