In 1996, Dia convinced then Southampton coach Graeme Souness that he was the cousin of George Weah and that he had also played for Senegal National team.
Depending on that huge background, Southampton signed Dia. Then, getting detailed info about African players was very difficult as the internet was still in its infancy.
He, however, signed a one-month contract and could later come on as a substitute in a league game before he was then himself substituted.
He was very awful and released 14 days later. On checking, he was not anywhere in Senegal and was nowhere close to George Weah.
To now, details of his whereabouts, are nowhere to be seen.
