Uganda Should Promote Collaboration For Sustainable Architecture and The Creative Economy- Arch. Namayanja
The Uganda Society of Architects and the Uganda Parliamentary Forum for Creative Industries held a symposium on sustainable architecture and the creative economy.
The event held on the 11th Sept 2025 -at Sheraton hotel Kampala brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to explore ways to drive Uganda’s GDP growth, cultural identity, and sustainable development through architecture and creative industries.

The president Uganda Society of Architects, Arch. Jacquiline Namayanja, highlighted the potential for collaboration between architects and creative professionals to fuel economic growth and support sustainable development.
“The creative industries contribute around 4.1% to Uganda’s GDP, indicating potential for growth and development. We need to work together to unlock new pathways for tourism, investment, and sustainable growth in Uganda.” she said.

She further emphasized the importance of sustainable cities, financing creative industries, digital innovation, heritage conservation and intellectual property rights.
Private-sector sponsors, including Plascon Uganda, Roofings Group and others, supported the event, reflecting growing recognition of the creative and architectural sectors as engines of innovation and sustainable growth.

This is a step towards unlocking new pathways for tourism, investment, and sustainable growth in Uganda. It is also a significant step towards promoting sustainable architecture and creative economy in Uganda.
