UGANDA BANGS SECOND GOLD AT THE TOKYO 2020 OLYMPIC GAMES AS CHEPTEGEI WINS 5000 METERS FINAL

Ugandan policeman Joshua Cheptegei  has won his country the second gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics when he pulled away to win the tough 5000 metres finals . The win brings to two medals  that Cheptegei has won in one Olympic event. He  earlier won silver medal in 10,000 metres finals .

He becomes the first Ugandan athlete to win two medals in an Olympic event ever. Earlier in the week another Police Officer Peruth Chemutai won Gold for Uganda in the 3000 metres Steeplechase finals.

The win was welcomed by jubilating Ugandans across the country as they wet for the final event involving country men – the marathon which will be held on Sunday as the exciting games close to an end.
