The Uganda-Nigeria Business Forum and Exhibition was officially launched yesterday, Thursday 3 September, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala, ahead of the main event scheduled for Wednesday 9th – Thursday 10th September 2026 at Mestil Hotel and Residences in Kampala.
The Forum is expected to bring together more than 20 Nigerian companies and Ugandan businesses to explore partnerships, joint ventures, investment opportunities and market access under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Amb. Dr. Sam Omara, Uganda’s High Commissioner in Abuja, noted that, the Nigerian delegation will feature investors from key sectors including cement, fertiliser, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, financial services, digital payments, ICT, agricultural machinery, palm oil and real estate, with agriculture and agro-processing among the key areas of focus.
The initiative seeks to position Nigeria as a gateway for Ugandan businesses into West Africa, while leveraging Uganda’s strategic position as an entry point for Nigerian companies into East Africa and regional value chains.
Officials at the launch emphasised the importance of stronger private-sector engagement in addressing trade barriers, expanding investment and unlocking the significant economic potential between East and West Africa.
PSFU CEO Mr. Stephen Asiimwe noted that; “this is a valuable opportunity for businesses to connect, address trade barriers and create practical partnerships that will grow trade and investment between Uganda and Nigeria”
The Forum will provide a platform for businesses from both countries to connect, identify opportunities and build lasting commercial partnerships.
