TRIUMPHANT KADAGA BACK AT WORK, LAUNCHES NEW NGO TO CHAMPION THE GIRL CHILD EDUCATION AND HEALTH FOR THE RURAL POOR
Hardly a week after she thumped her arch rival Persis Namuganza in NRM Party CEC polls for the post of National Vice Chairperson Women Eastern region, the Speaker of Parliament , Rebecca Kadaga , is back at work – launching the Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga Education Initiative (RAK), an NGO that will champion girl-child education, especially for the rural poor; health; livelihood and leadership.
The directors and members of the NGO will be drawn from the young professionals among lawyers, doctors, business and finance strategists. Already Kadaga has bought 100,000 exercise books which will distribute to needy pupils, when schools re-open.
At the same time, Kadaga opened the 11th Partnership Forum for the Uganda Aids Commission. “ I commend Uganda Aids Commission for its remarkable progress in championing Uganda’s HIV/AIDS response,” the Speaker said ahead of the upcoming International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA), which will be hosted in Uganda December 2021.
“I am excited that Uganda won the bid to host one of Africa’s biggest AIDS conference.
We will work with Parliament’s Committee on Budget and that on HIV/AIDS to see that some money is secured to facilitate this international meeting, Kadaga pledged .
