State says MPs Ssegirinya, Ssewanyana Commanded Masaka Masacre
The government has laid the brutal killings especially of elderly people in Masaka at the doorstep of Kampala Members of Parliament Alan Ssewanyana and Muhammad Ssegirinya.
The monthlong murders have claimed almost 30 people who are attacked and hacked with machetes in their houses. The killers have been targeting elderly people who live alone. One septuagenarian Joyce Nantale 70, was hacked to death together with her six-year-old granddaughter, Barbara Birungi.
Police Spokesman Fred Enanga has told the press that several arrested killers have confessed that were recruited by the two MPs who are members of the National Unity Platform -NUP, who have been been coordinating the gruesome killings after promising the killers big rewards for the murders.
The two MPs started their day at Masaka Central Police Station where they are recording statements after being summoned by CID.
It is not yet clear if they will be charged, after the state has leveled such serious charges of mastermining the mini genocide in Masaka. So far 78 suspects have been arrested in connection with the murders. The National Unity Platform is yet to comment on the accusation against its MPs by the state security forces.
